Top 5 Guilty Pleasure Songs

(Dedicated to my unborn baby! Your old man is cool.)

*I listen to my guilty pleasure playlist whilst running on the treadmill. (Shout out to Macquarie University gym!) I mention this because I want you to know that this list is definitely exercise friendly.

5. Mandy - Barry Manilow

Barry will see you now!

Did you hear that Barry "officially" came out recently?

This makes Mandy even better! (I didn't think you could improve upon perfection.)

Should we drop the 'M'?

Should we just sing the first three letters?

What I love (yes, love) the most about this song is how it builds to a crescendo. It's so deliciously melodramatic!

4. Macho Man - Village People

I could pull off the hairy biker! Just saying.

In primary school, the powers that be made us exercise to the Village People's YMCA. (Was that an official 90s thing?) Let's just say that I got into it and soon wanted to find a few more Village People songs.

What can I say about Macho Man? The music video makes it a CLASSIC, but I also appreciate the dig they are having at the old school definition and understanding of "macho".

"I'VE GOT TO BE A MACHO MAN!"

3. It's Raining Men - Gerri Halliwell

Hopefully Geri will give me a shout if she ever remakes the remake!

It's halftime during the 2015 NRL Grand Final. It's a warm day in Sydney. The first half of the GF was exhilarating. What do I do to keep the excitement building during halftime? The only thing my sun-and-beer fried brain could conjure came in the form of Geri Halliwell's stupendous remake of It's Raining Men.

The wife was mortified.

The hosts were wide-eyed.

I was managing to move better than I have in years! Picture a 90+ kg bloke trying to jump over a couch, cartwheel across a living room and shimmy his way around a coffee table. I kind of wish I had seen it!

Did Geri do it better? Did I do it better? Who knows.

2. Cowboy - Kid Rock

The parental advisory sign just made me want to listen to it that much more!

What did I write on my beloved pencil case in Year 6?

COWBOY CAM!

During the chorus of this tour de force, I would sing Cowboy CAMERON!

In reflection, I was probably too young to be listening to this colourful song. Then again, Kid Rock's self-titled album was the best thing since NBA Jam!

NBA Jam was pretty dope.

1. Wild Wild West - Will Smith

The movie was a pile of...

The movie? Horrific. The song? Genius.

This is utter guilty pleasure perfection. I don't care if Will's music doesn't age well, this is still my jam.

AND THE MUSIC VIDEO! I reckon 1 million of the 11 million YouTube views can be attributed to yours truly! My favourite part? When Stevie Wonder stops playing > Will throws the hat > GASP! > the hat boomerangs > the white suit!

THE. WHITE. SUIT.

The first watch my parents bought me was a counterfeit Casio from Chinatown in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It worked for less than 24 hours, bu...
